sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord and praise his name; every day tell how he saves us. Tell the nations of his glory; tell all peoples the miracles he does,
Psalm 96:1-3
A Place to Gather Together
Why do we gather together for the worship of God? We could just worship God at home couldn’t we? Well, sort of. But just like trying to stay in shape without an exercise partner; worshiping God without a community to encourage you is somewhat fruitless. Worship gatherings at FCC provide an environment of mutual encouragement and inspiration to continue on the journey of seeking after God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Whether you are intentionally training to become more like Jesus, or just looking for a place to try out this spiritual exercise called Christian worship, at First Covenant we have a place for you. Our worship gatherings are designed to provide environments for all ages to encounter the transformational character of God.
If you are looking for a place of meaningful service, our worship ministry teams have a spot for you. From our technical teams to our worship choir, there are plenty of opportunities for ministry through the creative arts.

Worship Choir
Whether we are singing with the praise team, or performing a cantata, we seek to have an attitude of worship that causes others to engage in intimate worship. Our music is carefully chosen to lead people forward in their relationship with God. We also strive to communicate theological truths by skillfully singing this music.
This is a non-auditioned group of singers who rehearse Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30. It is open to everyone 9th grade and up; Vocalists younger than 9th grade may audition with the Director of Worship Ministries if they feel they have sufficient skill. We sing twice a month and also perform Christmas and Easter cantatas.
The choir season begins the last week of August and ends the first week in May. Our only requirements are that choir members; be high school juniors or older, be committed to attending 75% of rehearsals, and love worshiping in song. See our choir perform in the video below.

Orchestra
The FCC Orchestra is the newest addition to the worship ministries at First Covenant. It was created to answer the command found in Psalm 150: “Praise God with trumpets and all kinds of harps. Praise him with tambourines and dancing, with stringed instruments and woodwinds. Praise God with cymbals, with clashing cymbals.” The orchestra plays two Sundays a month alternating between the traditional service and the contemporary service. It provides a unique worshipful texture to these services. This is a non-auditioned group of instrumentalists who rehearse Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00. It is open to everyone 9th grade and up. It is recommended that all instrumentalists have completed at least a junior high level orchestra experience. Musicians younger than 9th grade may audition with the Director of Worship Ministries if they feel they have sufficient skill. If you are interested in playing but are unsure of the skill level required, please feel free to visit a rehearsal to test your “chops”!
One of the most unique aspects of the orchestra is the fact that it is truly an inter-generational ensemble. The age range of our members spans from young teenagers to senior citizens with skill levels ranging from moderate musicians to respected instructors. Our musicians come from a variety of musical backgrounds, and have found success and enjoyment in this ministry. What a great opportunity to show our unity as the body of Christ!

Worship Team
The worship team at First Covenant Church is an auditioned group of skilled musicians who are committed to using their gifts and talents to lead others in worship. As leaders, our desire is to be so engaged in worship that we lead others by the action of our own worship. We worship in response to what God has done in our lives; the words that we sing communicate the theological truths that we believe.
The worship team rehearses Sunday morning at 6:45am. There are yearly worship team auditions in August. Audition packets are available at the church or linked here. Please look through the questions and prepare the music for your audition. If you wish to join the worship team, you do not need to wait until August to audition. Please contact our Director of Worship Ministries for off-season auditioning.
We do require that you be a regular attendee of First Covenant for six months prior to auditioning and be of High School age or older. Hear our Worship Team in the video below.

Technical Ministry
Encouraging an atmosphere that is reverent, purposeful, creative, and relevant.
Our ministry should enhance the message of Jesus Christ and not distract from it. Our volunteers are skillful, servant-hearted and approach every challenge with a can-do attitude. This ministry supports every ministry of First Covenant Church, but most notably on Sunday mornings during worship.
