Administrative Assistant Job Description 

Summary/Objective:

It is the mission of First Covenant Church to grow deeper in Christ and further in mission. The Administrative Assistant is to have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and live in a way that influences others to strengthen their relationship with Christ. The purpose of this position is to be the first Impression of First Covenant Church to incoming guests and callers and to assist in the day to day operations of the church office 

Reports to:

Office Manager 

Works closely with:

Office Manager, Ministry Staff, Office Staff and Volunteer Ministry Leaders 

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

 Welcome and assist incoming church attendees and guests as they come to the church office as well as cordially answer the telephone providing assistance 

 Support the Office Manager and Ministry Staff in the creation, preparation and distribution of requested administrative tasks 

 Perform general office work: order and maintain supplies for staff and church; church mailings; weekly bulletin printing, mail distribution, copier/printer machine use and repair, and other duties as directed 

 Contact point for benevolence calls 

 Function as the central point of contact for all significant congregational life events (births, deaths, illnesses, etc.), record that information in our database, and report events to church staff 

 Oversee the general appearance of church office and ministry tables 

 

Competencies: 

 Relates well to others, communicates effectively both interpersonally and corporately showing a welcoming presence 

 Experience in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, Publisher and database proficiency 

 Demonstrates organizational, multitasking, detail-oriented, accuracy, follow-through skills 

 

Work Environment: 

This job operates in a professional office environment and requires the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality 

Required Education and Experience: 

 High School Diploma or equivalent; Training in Microsoft Products 

 Candidate should have 1-3 years Administrative Experience
